nehemiah construction

28 Oct

a guy, dave, stayed with us for a couple of days. he’s the founder and ceo of nehemiah construction, a christian organization building water wells in kenya, specifically  the desert area called the turkana district. these water pumps are a life source to the people, providing safe and clean water while saving them from water diseases and even their own lives as they otherwise would have to climb down dangerously sandy holes to retrieve filthy muddy water. here’s part 1 of their award-winning documentary showing a bit about what they do and the turkana people (they’re located in canada btw 😛 lol):

“Too Dry for Tears”

quick praise report: jimmy, a local worship leader, and i evangelized to 3 people in the streets of kitale – and they all came to Christ! PTL 🙂 and God’s sovereignty as jimmy was somehow connected to all three from his

Kakuma, Turkana

17 Oct

A week in Kakuma, in the district of Turkana, in Kenya!

Here’s a few of the experiences:

we pr4yed for this guy, Samuel, in wheelchair for healing. some time
ago he got into a car accident and both his legs got paralyzed..and
his face was so despondent and hopeless when we met him. just
this..depression that was over him. anyway we all laid hands on him
and pr4yed..sang with verses and in the spirit. at one point he
violently jumped up, bumped me on the head, and fell back into his another point his arms reached up to the pastor behind
him, wrapped around his neck, and wailed this heart-wrenching cry. we
continued to pr4y..and at the end, his face was so lit-up. like he was
smiling and at peace. wow the power of pr4yer with the WORD. it truly
rejoices the heart and enlightens the eyes (ps 19). anyway, he tried
to get up but couldn’t…he told us that the L0rd told him that he’d
have to try 7 times before he’d be able to get up and walk

there’s a refugee camp right next to Kakuma. apparently it’s the
world’s largest camp infrastructure-wise (Dadaab is the largest in the
numbers of people) and it’s affecting the town of Kakuma. like
pornography and sexual immorality is so rampant inside the camp…and
it’s the local residents of Kakuma who’re are getting infected. also
there is tension between the refugees and the locals bc the UN Relief
funds are targetted to the camp and not to the poverty-stricken
village of Kakuma. the refugees there are from all over Africa –
Somalia, Congo, Ethiopia, etc. And the majority of them are Mus1ims,
so X-ians are not actually not allowed to go into the camp. Local
chu5ches are helping out with relief and food, but they’re not allowed
to plant a chu5ch inside. pry for breakthrough! inside the camp we
visited a refugee family whose father was a famous past0r in Congo but
had to run away bc a military official wanted to force marry his
daughter..anyway, he has crazy stories. pry for them as well please!
against bitterness for being at the camp and to shine as light and
salt in the darkness

the L0rd highlighted to me before this trip that RAIN would be a
major theme (at IHOP when i asked Him about which country to go to –
thailand, kenya, or uganda, he showed me a vision of land and rain,
even giving me the verse Ex 9:26 – “but in the land of goshen, where
the israelites were, there was no hail.” so that’s why i chose kenya
:D). anyway, even when riding on the bus to Kakuma, we sang “let it
rain.” soo with that in mind…..on one of the last nights at the
church (we did pryer and w0rship with the locals), one of my teammates
called out for an altar call of repent4nce. so basically almost the
whole chu5ch went up to the front, got down on their knees, and
publically confes5ed their s1ns on the mic in front of everyone. that
same night, it RAINED in kakuma. totally reminded me of act5 3:19 PTL
for His healing power over the land 🙂

ACTS promo

17 Oct

Dear friends,
This past July-September I had the privilege to join the ACTS Program at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. ACTS (Antioch Center for Training and Sending) is a 6-month program designed to equip young leaders to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit and change the world through worship, prayer and missions. During my three months in Kansas City I was able to spend hours in the prayer room encountering God, receive important teaching from IHOP-KC leaders, and train for cross-cultural missions. I also got to experience amazing community with like-minded brothers and sisters who are all wholeheartedly pursuing Jesus.
Currently I am on the three-month outreach portion of ACTS in Kenya!
The next ACTS program is from January 15-June 30, 2012. The outreach locations for the next track will likely include Turkey, Lebanon, and Nepal. I know you have a huge heart for missions and prayer and I invite you to prayerfully consider applying for this next program.
You can find more information about ACTS online at:

in kitale kenya!

it’s like a small town here but there’s a few churches in the block and several pastors who joined us in our prayer sets in our room this morning to pray and worship。on monday we’ll be going to turkana,a nearby district, for a week!it’ll be hot and dry but a good time to spend with the Lord with the tribal people

right now we’re waiting to have our very first night of prayer! i’m excited to pray for these next few hours and wait upon the presence of the Lord 🙂

personally..i feel like i’m on a retreat. away from civilization, people, society. just spending time between me and God. so different from my previous missions trips where we’ve evangelized for eight hours straight under a hot blazing sun. in kitale we’re in a prayer room for 4 hours in the morning and then activities, like learning turkana culture, in the afternoon. and then relaxing time until the night of prayer. very very different。。。we’ll be evangelizing on platforms soon。。as our team has been praying for the past 2 months i’m excited to see how prayer affects missions

alanna, nichole and me!

real fast on prayer requests:please pray for greater encounter with the Lord!

personal update

2 Oct

so we’re leaving to!! i’m excited and nervous at the same time 🙂 we’ll be staying at a guest house, visiting a refugee camp for SURE, maybe visit mumbasa (from inception!), and disciple the younger generation there!

just to have some of you pray for me…on wednesday night i got food poisoning/really sick and knocked out for almost two days straight..spiritual attack? i really wanted to go home..not during the time of sickness but afterwards on friday..but i’m set to go to Kenya, so unless the Lord has different plans in mind, ready for africa!

people have been asking me what i’m going to do after ACTs, and honestly i don’t know…i’d still like to go to grad school in urban planning, but now there are open doors in going to the ACTs program…afterwards i can stay in kansas city and join staff, go to every home for Christ and staff there, or go to boston and join the house of prayer over there…but the Lord has brought me to a place of intercession for the people in LA so will definitely be back for at least a few months~

proverbs 16: 9 in his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps

lol so true!

next time i update this blog, i’ll be writing from kenya 🙂 GOd bless!
